🌿 Honoring the Lady of the Country

The Chua Xu Temple is a revered spiritual site dedicated to Her Holiness, the Lady of the Country (Bà Chúa Xứ). According to legend, a mystical stone statue of the Lady was discovered on Sam Mountain’s slopes in the early 19th century. To enshrine this sacred figure, a temple was built, though the current structure, with its elegant four-tiered green-tiled roof, was constructed in 1972.

Inside the temple, Her Holiness is enthroned in a marble chamber, adorned in a vibrant ceremonial gown and ornate headdress. Worshippers believe she grants blessings, protection, and prosperity, making this a major pilgrimage site in the Mekong Delta.

The temple comes alive between the 23rd and 25th of the fourth lunar month, when thousands of pilgrims flock to witness the sacred bathing and dressing ceremony of the Lady’s statue. This important ritual, performed with meticulous care, is believed to purify and renew her spiritual power.

In front of the temple, numerous vendors sell vibrant baskets of fruit, which locals purchase as offerings to seek blessings for health, wealth, and happiness.
