We'll visit the serene Wat Visoun, the enlightening Arts and Ethnology Centre, and the awe-inspiring Wat Xiengthong, showcasing the classic Luang Prabang architectural style. Following a delicious lunch, we set sail on the Mekong River, heading to Ban Muangkeo. A short trek from here leads us to the enigmatic Pak Ou caves. Returning to Luang Prabang, we'll make stops at Ban Nongxai, known for its artisans, and Ban Xanghai Village, where we'll witness skilled silversmiths at work. A rewarding day awaits you. Today, we venture to the enchanting Ban Longlao, a H'mong village, where you'll have the chance to relish a delightful local lunch. Afterward, an invigorating trek from the village leads us to the breathtaking Kuang Si Waterfall. Swim, relax, and if you're up for it, climb to the waterfall's summit for stunning views. As the sun sets, we return to Luang Prabang, cherishing the day's memorable experiences.
After a hearty breakfast, we check out and commence our journey to Xiengkhuang, renowned for the enigmatic "Plain of Jars." Our first stop is Houi Hei, offering picturesque mountain views. We then proceed to Ban Kiu Kam Pone, a charming Khmu village, before savoring lunch in Phou Khoun. Continuing our adventure, we visit the Hmong village of Ban Son Boom and explore a hidden Buddha Cave, once an army hospital. By early evening, we arrive at our hotel in Xiengkhuang, filled with memories of the day's fascinating discoveries. Overnight in Xiengkhuang.
Before catching your domestic flight to Vientiane, we delve into the rich history of Xiengkhuang. A visit to the Mines Action Group sets the tone for the day, followed by exploration of the captivating Jar Sites. Jar Site 1, the largest, and Jar Site 3, atop a hill with stunning vistas, await your discovery. Later, we transfer to the airport for your Vientiane-bound flight. Upon arrival in Vientiane, our friendly local guide and driver will warmly welcome you and escort you to your hotel.
Today, after a delectable breakfast, we embark on a journey through Vientiane's cultural treasures. Wat Sisaket, adorned with countless miniature Buddha statues, and Wat Prakeo, formerly housing the renowned Emerald Buddha image, astound with their grandeur. Next, we pay homage to That Luang Stupa, a sacred symbol of Lao heritage. Our itinerary then leads us to the enlightening COPE exhibition center. In the early morning, take a short domestic flight to Pakse. From there, board a private traditional boat for a scenic 2-hour cruise to Champassak. Explore the ancient town of the Champa Kingdom and continue by car to the pre-Angkor era temple of Wat Phou, an architectural marvel dating back to the 5th century. In the afternoon, our adventure takes us to Don Khong, known for its breathtaking 4,000 islands and the rare Irrawaddy dolphins. On the way, we'll visit the atmospheric ruins of the Khmer temple, Oup Mong, nestled in the forest. Today promises an enchanting adventure as we embark on a captivating long-tail boat tour to Don Khone, a quaint fishing village called Ban Nakasang, and finally, the awe-inspiring Khone Phapheng Waterfall. Known as the largest waterfall in South East Asia, it stands proudly near the Lao-Cambodian border, surrounded by flourishing wildlife. This captivating region boasts some of the most breathtaking vistas in Laos. After an eventful day, we return to Khong Island in the late afternoon for a tranquil evening. Overnight on Khong Island.
As we bid adieu to Khong Island, we set forth to explore the scenic Bolaven Plateau. Our journey takes us through Houey Ten, a charming Katu village, and leads to a fascinating tea plantation and the captivating Tad Fan Waterfall. Following a delightful lunch, we venture to Tha Teng Market, a vibrant food market showcasing the vibrant cultures of ethnic minorities. Along the way, we'll visit other captivating minority villages, including Ban Bong Neua and Alak. By late afternoon, we reach Pakse and check into our hotel, where a delightful Farewell Dinner awaits. Overnight in Pakse.
