The Cu Chi tunnel system was ingeniously constructed by the Viet Cong, a Communist guerrilla troop, during the Vietnam War to resist the American colonial and South Vietnamese forces. Spanning over 220 km, this labyrinthine network of tunnels, deeply embedded underground, has become a symbol of resilience and a unique architectural feat. It features trap doors, storage facilities, purpose-built living quarters, hospitals, command centers, and kitchens. Today, Cu Chi tunnels attract both Vietnamese and international travelers alike.
Commencing at 08:00 - 08:30, our knowledgeable tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel to embark on a 60 km journey to Cu Chi, a district celebrated for its heroic role in the anti-American war. The serene rural landscape, with rice paddies and water buffalos, contrasts sharply with the historical significance of the region. It's hard to fathom the devastation caused by bombings and mines during the war, transforming Cu Chi into a "Free Target Zone." Remnants of that turbulent era are still visible, serving as a testament to the intense battles that unfolded.
Visitors can even experience crawling through the tunnels (excluding those with certain physical limitations). A local restaurant provides lunch at noon, offering a chance to savor authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
By 13:00, the journey back to Ho Chi Minh City commences, and by 14:00, you'll be back at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
