Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVAL, MEET YOUR TUK TUK, EXPLORE REMOTE TEMPLES AND TINY COMMUNITIES

At 10:00 AM, you'll be collected from the CHIANG MAI GATE HOTEL in the heart of Chiang Mai. Our team will take you on a private minivan ride to Tuk Tuk HQ in Mae Wang, which takes about 45-60 minutes southwest of the city.

Upon arrival, you'll check into a charming local hotel, your home base for the next few nights. You'll also meet your Tuk Tuk—a delightful machine you'll quickly come to love—along with your driver and guide team.

Our Tuk Tuks are uniquely designed to navigate the winding mountain roads with ease while ensuring extra comfort and great views from the back seat. Equipped with Bluetooth speakers, you can enjoy your favorite tunes on the journey, and if you want to soak up some sun, you can even roll back the roof!

Next, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch at a relaxed local restaurant, where your guide will share details about the exciting adventures that lie ahead. In the afternoon, it's time to hop back into your Tuk Tuk and explore the charming rural lanes, passing through lesser-known communities and stunning temples. At one temple, you'll receive a blessing for your journey, offering a glimpse into the local community's interaction with monks and their temple.

By late afternoon, you'll return to your base to freshen up before heading out for a fantastic traditional Thai dinner at a local country pub, complete with delicious food, live music, and a unique atmosphere.

Day 2 WATERFALLS, HILL TRIBE VILLAGES, ELEPHANTS AND BAMBOO RAFTING

After breakfast, you'll hop back into your Tuk Tuk (you'll definitely start feeling a sense of ownership over your ride!) and set off in a convoy to further explore the local area, soaking in the stunning mountain views that await us tomorrow. Enjoy charming small roads, picturesque villages, and a fantastic viewpoint that's off the beaten path!

Next, you’ll continue through winding country roads to a remarkable elephant sanctuary that prioritizes the well-being of these majestic creatures by transitioning them away from trekking. Here, visitors can learn about elephants in a respectful environment where they dictate the terms of their interactions.

Upon arrival, you'll discover the history of the elephants and the mission of the sanctuary team. After a delicious lunch, you'll have the opportunity to feed and connect with these incredible animals, then walk alongside them (riding is not permitted) to the local river where you can bathe together.

In the late afternoon, we'll switch gears and gently float downstream on bamboo rafts. Afterward, it’s time for a leisurely convoy back to the base camp for dinner and to prepare for an exciting day ahead.

Day 3 AND WE’RE OFF – DOI INTHANON HERE WE COME

After an early breakfast, you'll set off on a journey along picturesque country roads leading to Thailand's tallest peak, Doi Inthanon.

Your guide will lead the way in the first Tuk Tuk, while everyone else travels in convoy with a support vehicle at the back, carrying your luggage, spare parts for the Tuk Tuks (always good to be prepared!), and plenty of water. Each Tuk Tuk is equipped with a walkie-talkie, allowing your guide to share insights and answer any questions you might have while you chat with your fellow travelers.

The initial 20-30 kilometers feature gentle, winding roads, but soon you'll encounter breathtaking switchbacks, stunning landscapes, and quaint Karen hill tribe villages as you approach the National Park.

Expect plenty of surprised reactions from locals as they see Tuk Tuks this high in the mountains—trust us, it’s a unique sight! You'll make frequent stops to explore different villages and enjoy delicious coffee and snacks. Lunch will be served at a roadside eatery featuring hearty Thai dishes.

By mid-afternoon, you’ll arrive at our accommodation in the village of Mae Khlang Luang. From there, you’ll jump into another quintessential Thai transport—a 'Songtaew,' which is a shared taxi converted from a pickup truck. This will take you to the summit of Doi Inthanon (over 2,500 meters), where you'll have the opportunity to explore trails and soak in the panoramic views. As the sun sets over the mountains, you'll enjoy a traditional Thai BBQ dinner set amidst the rice fields. What a perfect way to end the day!

Day 4 HIKING, WATERFALLS AND MOUNTAIN COFFEE

The Tuk Tuks will take a well-deserved break today as you venture into the foothills of Doi Inthanon on foot!

Your adventure begins with a brief truck ride, followed by a guided hike into the forest with an exceptional local guide who is knowledgeable about every tree and plant—and can even spot a snake from quite a distance! As you hike, you'll encounter breathtaking waterfalls, bubbling rivers, and majestic trees.

There are plenty of opportunities to cool off in the pools beneath the waterfalls, and you'll enjoy a packed lunch (wrapped in leaves) in a serene forest clearing.

The trek concludes with a walk back down to the village where you spent the night, where you can savor some of the freshest coffee at a charming, old-fashioned mountain café (it’s such a unique spot that words can hardly capture it!).

Note: This hike is suitable for everyone. The total distance is approximately 5-6 km, and we maintain a leisurely pace; after the initial uphill section, most of the trail is flat or downhill.

Later in the evening, get ready for another delightful dinner—this time with a view of the rice terraces—and perhaps enjoy a well-deserved cold beer or two!

Day 5 TIME TO SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR TRUSTY TUK TUK

This morning marks the conclusion of your 5-day adventure as you bid farewell to your Tuk Tuk and travel back to Chiang Mai City via private minivan.

The transfer will take place in the morning, ensuring you arrive at The Chiang Mai Gate Hotel before noon.
