Day 3 SAPA TREKKING

(Cat Cat village) 7km trek

In the morning, our journey commences with an early arrival at Lao Cai Train Station. A dedicated tour guide will greet you, facilitating a smooth 1-hour drive to Sapa. Once there, your belongings will be safely stowed in the hotel, allowing you ample time to savor a delightful breakfast and freshen up with a refreshing shower.

Post-breakfast, we embark on a trek to Cat Cat Village, a mere 45-minute stroll from Sapa. Nestled on the hill slope, this village is home to the Black H’Mong hill tribe, where the cultivation of rice and corn is a common sight.

Exploring Cat Cat village offers a glimpse of a majestic waterfall along the stream and the historic Hydro Electric Power Station, a testament to French craftsmanship. The village showcases young women skillfully working on looms, weaving vibrant brocade adorned with intricate floral and avian designs. Notably, H’Mong women utilize indigo plants and leaves for dyeing these fabrics, employing a meticulous process that involves rolling and smoothing sections of wood covered with wax for a durable finish.

A scrumptious lunch awaits you at a local restaurant.

The afternoon provides free time for leisure and relaxation.

As the evening descends, you are encouraged to uncover the nocturnal allure of Sapa: relish roasted corn and baked eggs by the warmth of a charcoal fire or engage in some retail therapy. Particularly on Saturday nights, we extend a special recommendation to experience the Love Market, an emblematic cultural event unique to the ethnic minorities of H'Mong and Dzao in Lao Cai, and the broader Northwestern region of Vietnam.

Day 4 SAPA TREKKING - TRAIN BACK HA NOI

(Lao Chai - Ta Van village) 10km trek

Following a hearty breakfast, our trek begins, leading us from Sapa towards the enchanting landscapes of Muong Hoa valley.

We traverse the Y Linh Ho village, home to the Black H’mong tribe, navigating through lush rice terraces on our way to Lao Chai village. Here, we immerse ourselves in the daily life and rich traditional culture of the Black H’mong people.

Y Linh Ho village comprises a cluster of small hamlets scattered across rugged mountain terrain with high and steep peaks. In this commune, a few hundred Black H’mong inhabitants reside, building rudimentary houses on their farmland and cultivating corn and dry rice on the steep hillsides. The sole access to the commune is by foot from the main road. This village is distinctive for the Black H'Mong people who don dark clothing in shades of black and navy, dyed with indigo, a practice often observed on the hands of older H'Mong women.

Continuing our journey, we reach Lao Chai and Ta Van villages, situated approximately 8 km from Sapa town. These villages are inhabited by Black H’mong and Giay people and mark the commencement of the Muong Hoa valley. From a vantage point on the main road, a breathtaking panorama unfolds, revealing the entire expanse of the villages against a backdrop of towering mountains and a flowing river. Revel in the fresh air, marvel at the terrace fields, and explore the culture and customs of the Black H’mong families. The warm hospitality of the locals makes each house a welcoming space for interaction and cultural exchange.

After exploring Ta Van village, the bus awaits to transport you back to Sapa Town. From there, you'll be transferred to Lao Cai Railway Station.
