Discover the best of Cambodia in a 3-day tour, featuring the iconic sights of Siem Reap, Angkor Wat, and Tonle Sap Lake. Begin your journey in Siem Reap, the gateway to the ancient temples of Angkor. Explore the breathtaking Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument, with its intricate carvings and majestic architecture. Continue your adventure with a visit to the vibrant Tonle Sap Lake, where you’ll experience the unique floating villages and local life on Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. This tour offers a perfect blend of cultural immersion and historical exploration, making it an unforgettable experience.
Upon arriving at Siem Reap Airport (recommended flight arrival before 09:00 AM), you will be greeted and transferred directly to visit Angkor Thom. Most visitors enter this ancient city through the South Gate. Located in the heart of the former Khmer capital, the Bayon Temple is renowned for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 enigmatic smiling faces. These faces are believed to represent the Buddha of Compassion, though they also bear a striking resemblance to the god-king. Other significant sites within Angkor Thom include the pyramidal Baphuon, which is currently under restoration, the Terrace of the Leper King with its remarkably well-preserved early carvings, and the Terrace of the Elephants, a grand viewing platform for royal ceremonies supported by sculpted stone elephants.
After stopping for lunch at a local restaurant (not included), you’ll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, you’ll depart from the hotel to explore Angkor Wat. The five towering spires of this iconic temple symbolize Mount Meru, the mythical home of the Hindu gods. The outer galleries are adorned with some of the finest and best-preserved bas-reliefs in Khmer art. The day concludes with a sunset view at Phnom Bakheng, offering the best vantage point over Angkor Wat and the surrounding complex. Return to your hotel for a well-deserved rest. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Start your day with a visit to Artisan d’Angkor, where you'll observe skilled wood and stone carvers at work. Next, head to Banteay Srei, a small yet remarkable complex situated about 25 kilometers from the central Angkor area. Built in the 10th century by the spiritual advisor of King Jayavarman V, this temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Your final morning stop will be Ta Prohm, where the jungle has overtaken the ancient monuments, with giant tree trunks intertwining with the stone structures. This site gives you a sense of how the first European explorers might have discovered the ruins, with its iconic images of massive trees growing out of stone towers.
After stopping for lunch at a local restaurant (not included), continue your tour in the afternoon with a visit to the Roluos Group, which consists of three significant temple ruins: Lolei, Preah Ko, and Bakong. Lolei features four brick towers in varying states of preservation, located near an active pagoda, with some carvings still in good condition. Preah Ko, meaning "sacred bull," is perhaps the most artistically captivating temple in the Roluos group. Bakong, the most impressive of the group, is notable for its early use of stone rather than brick in its construction. After your visits, return to your hotel for the night. Overnight in Siem Reap.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the pier at Tonle Sap, located about 30 minutes south of Siem Reap. The lake is surrounded by semi-submerged forests dotted with floating fishing villages, providing a great opportunity to witness rural life in lakeside Cambodia and observe a unique ecosystem teeming with birdlife. Enjoy a boat trip on the lake, where you can see the floating homes and villages of people who make their living from the plentiful freshwater fish right beneath their houses. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant (not included). Afterward, return to your hotel for checkout, followed by a transfer to Siem Reap Airport for your departure flight to your next destination. A 05:00 PM departure is recommended (please note that the minimum check-in time at Siem Reap Domestic Airport is 2 hours before departure, and 2.5 hours before departure at the International Airport).
