Experience the best of Cambodia in just 5 days with this captivating tour! Begin your journey in Phnom Penh, where you’ll explore the city’s vibrant culture and historic landmarks. Travel to Koh Chen to marvel at traditional silverwork and then visit Oudong, the former capital with its impressive mountain-top temples. Discover the ancient temples of Prasat and the charming town of Kompong Chhnang. Take a boat trip to Kampong Tralach, and finally, unwind on Koh Oknha Tei, a serene island retreat. This tour combines cultural exploration with relaxation, offering a memorable glimpse into Cambodia’s rich heritage and natural beauty.
We will greet you at Phnom Penh's TS1 Port for your check-in aboard your luxurious 3-deck, five-star Mekong vessel. Settle into your floating haven, which offers a panoramic view through its expansive window wall. Enjoy the serenity of your private Mekong experience from your California king bed, terrace, or daybed. As we embark on our journey deeper into the Mekong River, we’ll celebrate with a traditional Khmer Apsara dance, a cultural ritual famously depicted on the walls of Angkor Wat.
In the silver village of Koh Chen, we observe skilled artisans crafting exquisite silverware traditionally cherished by Khmer royalty. Next, we head to Udong, the royal capital from the 17th to 19th centuries, where we explore the Vipassana Dhura Mandala, a meditation center known for its distinctive Buddhist practices. In the afternoon, a walking tour of Kampong Prasat provides an intimate glimpse into local life and the picturesque riverside setting.
In the cooler parts of the day, we venture into the verdant countryside to explore traditional potters and palm-sugar makers, either by mountain bike or in shaded tuk-tuks. We cycle through rice paddies to witness experienced artisans climbing towering palms. Afterward, we glide across tranquil waters and disembark amid blooming lotuses for an ox-cart ride along the Tonle Sap riverbanks. Here, we pass lacquered wooden homes where, during the dry season, locals enjoy the coolness of their outdoor makeshift living areas.
As we journey along this timeless river, we marvel at skilled Khmer artisans creating kroma, an essential item for every Khmer person. If you prefer, explore the riverbank by bike, passing Buddhist temples and thatched houses on slender wooden stilts, with white oxen grazing nearby. After lunch, we board our sturdy aluminum boats and set off towards the remote village of Preah Prosop, where the tamarind trees stand, and the community has remained largely unchanged over generations.
We introduce the vibrant capital of Cambodia to our guests via motorized tuk-tuk, highlighting the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum of Cambodia, which houses the world’s most extensive collection of Khmer art. Guests have the option to explore the Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocide or indulge in shopping at the Russian Market. We also say goodbye to those who are disembarking in Phnom Penh after their 4-night stay.
