Itinerary

Day 1Arrival

Welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival, you will be warmly greeted and escorted to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City at your convenience. After settling in, you can take some time to explore or relax before meeting your fellow travelers for a delectable welcome feast. Dip into the rooftop pool and soak up the incredible views of the city skyline as you get ready for the trip of a lifetime!

Day 2 Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast, get ready for a cultural experience like no other, learning the national sport called da cao! This is also called “foot badminton” and you will see it played in every park around the country. Learn the basics from one of the local teams we support as part of our community projects. After that, we will head out on a walking tour to see sights and some hidden gems of this incredible city. Refresh back at the hotel before heading to the train station for our overnight train to Da Nang.

Day 3 Kayak into Hoi An

Upon arrival, our team will greet you and take you to the banks of the Thu Bon river, where we will kayak through stunning local farming areas and picturesque palm groves, ending up in the heart of the historic Hoi An. Once there, take a short stroll to your hotel to freshen up, and maybe indulge in a refreshing dip in the pool before embarking on your adventure of exploring the town. In the evening, your tour leader will guide you through a magical walking tour of Hoi An's UNESCO heritage town, with its charming alleys, captivating lanterns, and delectable food!

Day 4 Hoi An

Wake up to a beautiful morning and prepare for an unforgettable experience. Cycle through the breathtaking countryside, passing by small villages and lush rice fields until you reach a serene riverbank. Here, we will start collecting plastic that has been irresponsibly dumped along the river. Enjoy a refreshing sugarcane juice as a reward for your hard work before heading back to a Hoi An garden house. Here, we will work together to classify the trash and create eco bricks for a local NGO. An eco brick is a plastic bottle packed with used plastic to a specific density, which can be used as a reusable building block. This project not only helps clean up the riverbank but also contributes to constructing playgrounds and schools in remote areas of Quang Nam province. After our meaningful morning, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure (beach time, anyone?).

Day 5 Open Top Jeep to Hue

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, get ready to travel to Hue (the Imperial City) in style. We will ride in an open-top army jeep, cruising through one of the most scenic roads in the world, voted as such by many. Our journey begins as we make our way up the stunning Hai Van Pass, stopping at various viewpoints to take in the awe-inspiring coastline views and historical French colonial buildings along the way. We will arrive in the afternoon at the historical town of Hue, which was once the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty.

Day 6 Hue

After indulging in a delicious breakfast at the hotel, gear up for a captivating journey to the Imperial City, where you'll get a fascinating insight into Vietnam's rich imperial history and culture. Next up, we'll take you to a garden house located on the serene banks of the Perfume River for an immersive Vietnamese cooking class where you'll learn how to prepare classic Vietnamese dishes. Savor the sumptuous food while relishing the breathtaking view of the Thien Mu pagoda on the opposite bank. Spend the rest of the day at leisure until it's time to check out and leave for Hue Train Station, where you'll catch your night train to Ninh Binh. From there, we'll embark on a thrilling local homestay experience in the remote Pu Long National Park!

Day 7 Ninh Binh to Puluong

Get ready to set foot in one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes that Vietnam has to offer! As we travel through peaceful villages in Ninh Binh, you'll be immersed in local life, surrounded by sprawling rice paddies, breathtaking mountain ranges, and pristine rivers. Later, we'll hop on a bus and head to Pu Luong National Park, where a three-hour drive awaits us. Once we arrive, we'll embark on a challenging uphill trek to your authentic homestay in Ban Hieu, nestled amidst verdant rice paddies and towering mountains. Get ready to dine with local families and be mesmerized by the stunning off-the-beaten-path scenery surrounding you. Spend the night in one of the cozy local houses.

Day 8 Puluong National Park

Greet the morning with a stunning view of the valley as you enjoy breakfast before embarking on a short trek downhill towards a charming bamboo lake house in a traditional rural setting. Here, you can enjoy bamboo rafting or take a dip in the refreshing crystal-clear water. The local family will prepare a picnic lunch for you, offering an incredible experience surrounded by nature. After lunch, prepare for an exciting waterfall chasing adventure as your guide leads you on a secret route through the forest. Along the way, you'll be mesmerized by the serene views as you wind through local farms and villages. The trek is truly a place to unwind and immerse yourself in your surroundings. Return by foot, taking in the beautiful sights of rice fields and farms, before arriving at the homestay for a delicious dinner and drinks.

Day 9 Journey to Hanoi

Bid farewell to your homestay family and the breathtaking scenery of Pu Luong National Park, as you anticipate the vibrant energy of Hanoi and your stay in a stunning boutique hotel. Take it easy in the morning and savor a hearty breakfast before setting off. After arriving in Hanoi, you'll have time to freshen up and join the rest of the group for a leisurely city walk, followed by a feast of local delicacies.

Day 10 Ha Long & Bai Tu Long Bay

We will embark on a journey to the coast, where we'll hop on a luxurious mode of transportation that will take us to the renowned Ha Long Bay. Rather than sticking to the usual path, we'll venture north towards Bai Tu Long and explore the lesser-known areas of the bay that remain unspoiled by tourism. Once we reach our destination, we'll be treated to stunning views of Cap La Island and the floating fishing villages as we paddle our way around the bay in kayaks. If you're feeling adventurous, you can choose to explore one of the hidden beaches on Cong Do Island. As the day winds down, we'll head back to our boat and enjoy a magnificent sunset with some refreshing drinks and delicious dinner on the top deck. You can even try your hand at squid fishing with some of the crew, or simply sit back, relax, and reminisce about your memorable journey.

Day 11 Thien Canh Cave & Hanoi

Begin your day with a serene Tai Chi session on the sundeck or take in the breathtaking views of the bay with a warm cup of coffee. We'll set sail to one of the most famous cave systems in the Ha Long Bay, Thien Canh Son. You'll be in awe as you trek up the island and take in the incredible panoramic views of the secluded bay. As you step inside the cave, be prepared to be amazed by the stunning stalactites and stalagmites formations. After exploring the cave and the island trails, we'll head back to the boat for our journey back to the mainland. Before disembarking, try your hand at the famous Vietnamese fruit and vegetable carving. As we return to Hanoi, we'll take you on a guided evening food tour of the city's best culinary hotspots. From hidden banh mi carts to renowned dumpling stands and the most flavorful pho, you'll get to sample all of Vietnam's most iconic dishes. We'll finish the night off with a local rice beer, bringing a perfect end to your Vietnamese adventure.

Day 12 Farewell

Although all good things must come to an end, the memories of your Vietnamese adventure will stay with you forever. Enjoy your last breakfast with your One Life family and perhaps shed a few tears as you say goodbye. You can depart for the airport at any time, and we hope to see you again soon on another unforgettable journey.
