Our journey starts in Siem Reap and concludes in Phnom Penh, passing through Kampot over eleven days. For those seeking more adventure, join us on an extended trip to Saigon in Vietnam for a total of sixteen days. Our tours maintain a relaxed and leisurely pace, allowing ample time for photos and ensuring we never cycle for more than two consecutive days. Sunrise Cycling Adventure at Angkor Temples Rise early at 4:30 am to embark on a breathtaking sunrise cycling experience at Angkor Wat, a remarkable item on any traveler's bucket list. After witnessing the enchanting sunrise, we will continue exploring other captivating temples in the area throughout the morning. In the afternoon, we will have the opportunity to visit a local NGO, where we'll meet inspiring individuals who have dedicated their lives to making a difference in their community. Listen to their stories and gain deeper insight into the real challenges faced by the country.
River Adventure, Village Exploration, and Coffee Delights Embark on a remarkable journey across the picturesque wetlands and navigate through the winding Tonle Sap river. As we venture deeper into the remote landscapes, the road transforms into thrilling single-track trails. Leaving behind our support van, we embrace the rural and untamed beauty of Cambodia. Few villages dot the surroundings, relying on sustainable fishing practices along the river. Our path leads us to a 16km boat ride, where we and our bikes traverse the wetlands. Emerging on the other side, we continue our journey, conquering 18km of dirt roads until we reach Battambang. Battambang is a beloved destination among travelers, known for its vibrant cafes adorned with local artwork. The town serves as a testament to the resurgence of young talent in a field once devastated by the Khmer Rouge. Discover hidden gems and colonial-style streets as you indulge in shopping delights. For dinner, we will dine at another remarkable social enterprise restaurant, showcasing culinary creations on par with those found in major cities worldwide.
Thrilling Cycling Adventure, Red Earth Trails, and Sustainable Cambodia Fuel up with an early breakfast as we embark on an exhilarating journey along dusty red back roads, passing by the impressive Banan Temple. By early afternoon, we'll arrive in Pursat and settle into our hotel, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool or indulge in a rejuvenating massage at the on-site spa. Prepare to be inspired by Sustainable Cambodia, an extraordinary NGO. We'll receive a comprehensive presentation by their dedicated team and take a tour of their facilities. Witness firsthand the impactful projects they undertake and be inspired by the genuine difference made by real people.
Journey into Phnom Penh, Riverside Villages, and Tonle Sap Embark on a scenic 75km cycling adventure, immersing yourself in the breathtaking landscapes as we pedal towards Phnom Penh. Meandering through riverside villages nestled along the Tonle Sap lake, we witness the authentic daily life of the locals. Enjoy invigorating coffee breaks, capture endless photo-worthy moments, and cross a couple of charming ferries. The majority of our route follows tranquil backstreets with minimal traffic. As an option, the final 2km within the city center can be covered by van. For dinner, prepare for an extraordinary culinary experience at Romdeng restaurant, renowned for its innovative dishes featuring tarantulas and exquisite silk creations. This social enterprise restaurant is part of the esteemed Friends International team.
Friends International, S-21 Genocide Museum, and Khmer BBQ Our day begins with a remarkable encounter with the inspiring individuals of Friends International, where we gain insight into their remarkable community initiatives and the global impact of their strategies. Delve into the realities of local everyday issues through the eyes of true local heroes. From there, we venture to the vibrant Russian Market before visiting Tuol Sleng, also known as the S-21 Genocide Museum. Though emotionally challenging, this museum provides a poignant understanding of the Khmer Rouge era and Cambodian history. The afternoon offers free time for reflection, followed by a delightful Khmer BBQ dinner to conclude the day.
Exploring Chisaur Temple and Rural Cycling Embark on a delightful cycling journey that leads us south of Phnom Penh to the captivating Chisaur Mountain Temple in rural Cambodia. Although not a towering mountain at 130m, the route remains perfectly flat. We leisurely pedal through remote villages, traverse waterways, and navigate narrow dirt tracks. Our lunch stop takes place at Chisaur Temple, providing ample time to immerse ourselves in the exploration of these ancient ruins, which predate Angkor Wat by 200 years. In the afternoon, we travel by van to the charming Cambodian coastal town of Kampot, where culinary delights await.
Conquer the Bokor Mountain Cycle Challenge (optional, 80km) Kickstart the day with an exhilarating (optional) adventure—the Bokor Mountain Cycle Challenge! The ascent covers 40km, beginning with a flat stretch before gradually ascending higher and higher. If uphill cycling isn't your preference, we offer the option to transport your bike in the van, allowing you to enjoy a thrilling downhill ride. Upon reaching the summit, take the opportunity to explore the enchanting French ghost town of Bokor Hill Station, nestled within Preah Monivong National Park. For an unforgettable dinner, we indulge in the world-renowned BBQ ribs at the Rusty Keyhole—unquestionably the best you'll ever taste!
Salt Fields Community, Ethical Fashion, and Slow Coffee In the morning, we'll visit Chumkriel Language School, a grassroots initiative by the inspiring Mr. Suthy. Although there won't be children present during our visit, we'll learn about this fantastic NGO's efforts to provide education to the children of the salt field community. In the afternoon, take time to relax by the pool, explore the local market, or indulge in some personal downtime. As the day draws to a close, consider joining a sunset river cruise to witness the enchanting fireflies (if luck is on our side!).
Salt Lakes, Pepper Farms, Live Crab Markets, and White Beaches Today, we embark on a cycling adventure towards the Vietnam border, with the charming province of Kep as our highlight. Famous for its fresh seafood, particularly crab, Kep offers an array of culinary delights. Along the way, we'll explore the renowned pepper plantations and salt lakes, immersing ourselves in the local flavors. Navigating picturesque back roads and passing through the National Park, we'll reach the border crossing into Vietnam. From there, you'll board the van and return to Phnom Penh, arriving in time for dinner at your hotel.
Time to Bid Farewell As all good things must come to an end, today marks the conclusion of your journey. For those on the 7-day tour, it's time to say goodbye. We'll assist you with airport transfers or any further travel arrangements you may need.
