Commencing at 08:30, we embark on a southern-bound journey along the well-paved road for a distance of 3 kilometers. We then make a right turn onto a rustic path, meandering through awe-inspiring terraced rice fields for nearly an hour, gradually descending from an elevation of 1,486 meters to 1,085 meters, until we reach the enchanting Muong Hoa river. This leg of the expedition offers breathtaking vistas of the majestic Hoang Lien mountain range and the picturesque Mường Hoa Valley. We cross the river via a suspension bridge, and from there, the trail becomes narrower and more challenging, ascending uphill for approximately another hour, leading us to Lao Chai village at an elevation of 1,146 meters. This part of the trek involves a long and steep ascent, but rewards us with a magnificent view of the Muong Hoa Valley. Prior to our midday reprieve, we have the privilege of visiting several local homes in Lao Chai village, immersing ourselves in the rich local culture. After a satisfying lunch, we bid farewell to Lao Chai and continue our trek along a narrow trail for half an hour, passing through farmlands and bamboo forests with gentle undulations. However, our mettle will be tested as we soon confront a steep path that demands our utmost determination for approximately 1.5 hours. This arduous climb takes us through dense rainforests, rewarding us with an elevation of 1,785 meters and granting us respite to recover and marvel at the sublime panorama of the Muong Hoa Valley. The final leg of today's trek is a gradual descent of about 1 hour, leading us to Seo Mi Ty village. Nestled at the base of a breathtaking valley, Seo Mi Ty village (at an elevation of 1,548 meters) is home to the Hmong ethnic group. As the afternoon unfolds, we can unwind and relax by the stream near the newly constructed hydraulic power station, immersing ourselves in the tranquil ambiance of this idyllic setting.
Embarking on the day's adventure after a delightful breakfast, we bid farewell to Seo Mi Ty at 09:00. Our journey commences with a leisurely stroll along a broad pathway, gently descending for 20 minutes while traversing a quaint hamlet. As we venture further, the trek becomes more challenging, demanding our fortitude for the next 2 hours. The path ahead presents a combination of loose rocks, steep dirt tracks, and intermittent stream crossings, leading us through a resurgent forest to the captivating village of Den Thang (elevation ranging from 1,548m to 1,294m). Arriving at Den Thang, we seize the opportunity to explore this secluded village, immersing ourselves in its unique ambiance for approximately half an hour before indulging in a well-deserved lunch break. In the afternoon, our trek continues, predominantly downhill, for approximately 2 hours, guiding us from Den Thang to the Ta Trung Ho suspension bridge (located at 872m above sea level). This segment of the trail presents its own set of challenges, with rugged terrain and two invigorating stream crossings, elevating the thrill of our journey. Taking a momentary respite at the bridge, we gather our strength before embarking on a 3-kilometer descent towards our homestay in the quaint Ban Ho hamlet (sitting at an elevation of 984m). As we navigate the path, the ruggedness persists, invigorating our senses and connecting us intimately with nature. The welcoming embrace of the homestay awaits us, providing a warm haven amidst the rustic charm of the Ban Ho hamlet.
Departing from Ban Ho, our knowledgeable guide will lead the way to Thanh Phu, where we will delve into the vibrant lives of the Tay ethnic group and immerse ourselves in the breathtaking wonders of nature. Our final stop on this journey is the village of Nam Sai, home to a small community of the Xa Pho ethnic minority. Here, they rely on handicrafts, agriculture, hunting, and gathering forest products such as bamboo shoots and mushrooms for their livelihoods. Concluding our expedition, we return to Thanh Phu village and spend the night there, relishing in its tranquil ambiance.
After a hearty breakfast, you will have free time to explore the village at your leisure until we board the car for our return journey to Sapa. We will enjoy a delicious lunch in the town center of Sapa and have the freedom to discover the most beautiful city in the northern region. In the evening, we will board the bus and return to Hanoi. The bus is expected to arrive in Hanoi around 9:00 PM. With this, our remarkable journey comes to a close.
