Itinerary

Day 1 Hanoi

Greetings! Welcome to Hanoi, a city that seamlessly blends French colonial charm with vibrant Asian energy, adorned with enchanting lakes, picturesque pagodas, and bustling streets. Upon your arrival, our local representative will greet you and escort you to our designated hotel, granting you the rest of the day to unwind or venture out for exploration. For those arriving exceptionally early today or the preceding day, consider embarking on our optional Back Streets of Hanoi add-on. This unique experience delves into the charming neighborhoods of Cho Buoi, Hoang Hoa Tham, and Vinh Phuc, offering an exhilarating local adventure—riding pillion on taxi-motorbikes through a labyrinth of narrow streets and along the scenic Ho Tay Lake shoreline.

Day 2 Halong Bay

Hanoi – Halong Bay. We bid farewell to Hanoi and journey to the gem of Vietnam's picturesque landscape - the extraordinarily stunning Halong Bay. Step aboard a luxurious junk boat to cruise through the mesmerizing emerald waters of the bay, adorned with lush islets, and savor a delightful onboard lunch with panoramic views. In the afternoon, we explore Trinh Nu Cave, an exquisite cavern in Halong Bay, spanning 2,000m² and showcasing a breathtaking array of stalactites and stalagmites. The option for kayaking and a rejuvenating swim adds to the adventure. Later in the evening, back on the vessel, witness a Vietnamese cooking demonstration on the sundeck before indulging in a delectable seafood dinner.

Day 3 Caves & Hanoi cyclo ride

Halong Bay - Hanoi - Hue. Early risers can relish a stunning sunrise and engage in a Tai Chi session on the sundeck or indulge in a traditional massage—an ideal start to the day. Before returning to the port this morning, we venture into the enchanting Sung Sot cave (Surprise Grotto), an expansive 10,000m² space featuring two grand chambers large enough to accommodate numerous visitors. Upon our mid-afternoon arrival back in Hanoi, we embark on a cyclo (rickshaw) ride through the labyrinth of streets in the French Quarter, capturing the essence of landmarks like the Opera House and Ly Thai To Park. Transitioning from wheels to a leisurely stroll, we explore the '36 streets of the old quarter,' each named after various guilds that historically operated on a specific street, ranging from silk tailors to traditional medicine shops. Later in the evening, there's an opportunity to freshen up before boarding the overnight train (in a 4-berth sleeper cabin, basic standard) on the 'Reunification Express' railway line bound for Hue. An alternative option to fly from Hanoi to Hue is also available

Day 4 Hue

Arriving in the imperial city of Hue this morning, we partake in a guided sightseeing tour of the 19th-century capital. Explore the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, boasting a 21-meter-tall tower, and wander through the walled fortress of the Imperial Purple Palace, encircled by a moat adorned with intricate arches and formidable ramparts, some of which bear the marks of time. Subsequently, we venture into the countryside to visit the ancient mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc, one of the lavishly adorned Royal Tombs of the Nguyen kings. As evening descends, there is an optional sunset cruise on the Perfume River. Aboard a longboat, this provides a splendid opportunity to appreciate the city skyline.

Day 5 Hoi An

Hue - Coastal Journey via Hai Van Pass - Hoi An. Saying our goodbyes to Hue, we embark on a picturesque drive along the coastline through the Hai Van Pass (Road of the Ocean Clouds) en route to Hoi An. Along the way, we pause for a leisurely stroll along My Khe Beach, famously known as 'China Beach' during the war, featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s film 'Apocalypse Now.' Our arrival in the charming and historical town of Hoi An is scheduled for later this afternoon. A brief walking tour will acquaint you with the highlights of this captivating town, including the Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Hall, the 200-year-old Tam Ky House, former merchants’ residences, and the Japanese Covered Bridge, which boasts a history spanning 400 years. While staying in Hoi An, you have the option to enhance your experience with the unique Hoi An Street Eats add-on, offering an exploration of the city's popular local culinary spots. Cruise through the streets as the locals do, aboard vintage Vespas, savoring a variety of delicious Vietnamese dishes. To secure your spot, be sure to book early through your reservation consultant, as availability is limited.

Day 6 Rural Life in Vietnam

Today, our focus turns to the countryside as we delve into the rustic lifestyle of Vietnam. We'll pedal our way to Tra Que village, a serene journey along flat roads weaving through rice paddies and farmland. For those less inclined towards cycling, a local taxi option is at your disposal (additional cost may apply). Upon reaching the village, we'll actively engage in time-honored farming techniques, getting our hands dirty as we nurture the fields and gardens. Lunch will be a collaborative, home-cooked experience. In the afternoon, we'll make our way back to Hoi An, continuing the journey on our bicycles.

Day 7 Hoi An - at leisure

Today unfolds with complete freedom, allowing you to savor Hoi An at your own pace. Wander through the cobblestone streets adorned with charming boutique restaurants, trendy cafes, and delightful craft shops. Hoi An boasts some of Asia's finest bespoke tailors, offering their expertise at a reasonable cost. Should you desire relaxation, bask in the serenity of the hotel pool or venture to the nearby beach. Alternatively, consider an excursion to the UNESCO-listed My Son sanctuary or embark on a day trip to the renowned Ba Na Hills mountain resort. Here, you'll experience the world's second-longest cable car ride and stroll across the remarkable Golden Bridge (arrangements made on-site).

Day 8 Hoi An

Saturday signifies the conclusion of your Vietnam journey. A departure transfer will be arranged to transport you to Danang airport, ensuring you reach there in time for your next flight.
