Once you arrive in Yangon (Rangoon), you will be greeted and taken to your hotel. This evening, you will have the opportunity to meet your tour leader (or local guide) for welcome drinks and an overview of the upcoming itinerary.
Discover the captivating city of Yangon as you admire its finest representations of British colonial architecture alongside the vibrant Indian and Chinese Quarters. Later, visit the Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, stroll along the scenic promenade of Kandawagyi Lake, and witness the stunning Shwedagon Pagoda illuminated by the sunset.
Take a flight to Bagan. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic horse cart ride through the stunning temples and pagodas of Bagan while the sun sets on the horizon.
Spend the morning discovering the ancient temples of Bagan, dating back to the 11th to 13th centuries, including the notable Thagyar Pone and Ananda Temples. Afterwards, travel to the nearby Myinkaba village to explore Gubyaukgyi, Manuha, and Nan Paya temples, where you can observe local artisans at work creating traditional handicrafts. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on the Irrawaddy River to admire the intricate carvings at Kyauk Gu U Min. During your journey, take a break at the picturesque Sae Lan village and savor the beautiful sunset over the river as you head back.
Catch an early morning flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, make your way to the city, with a stop along the way to explore Ava, which served as Burma’s capital from the 14th to the 18th centuries. Travel by traditional horse cart and visit a local school. In the afternoon, embark on a city tour that includes visits to Mandalay Hill, Shwe Nandaw Kyuang, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, and Kuthodaw Pagoda, known for housing ‘the world’s largest book.’
In the morning, visit a local market to purchase ingredients for lunch at a nearby nunnery. Afterward, head to the Mahaganayon monastery in Amarapura to witness the morning alms offering. Next, stroll along the historic U Bein Bridge, a 200-year-old teak structure, before continuing to Sagaing for lunch at another local nunnery. Explore Sagaing Hill, adorned with around 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries. If time allows, delve into some of Mandalay’s traditional handicrafts and observe the crafting process.
Take an early morning flight to Heho. Upon arrival, you will drive to Nyaung Shwe, situated on the shores of Inle Lake. Begin your visit at the Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery before hopping on a local motorboat to explore the lake. Marvel at the unique floating gardens and visit Nga Hpe Chaung, commonly referred to as the 'Jumping Cat Monastery.' Next, head to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the main religious site on the lake, and tour a cheroot factory where traditional Burmese cigars are handcrafted. Your boat journey concludes at your hotel, which is nestled in a serene location by the lake.
This morning, you will explore the vibrant local market, popular among various ethnic minority groups in Burma. Afterwards, travel to Pa-oh village in In Dein to admire the stunning ancient stupas of Alaung Sitthou that lie in ruins. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Heho for your return flight to Yangon.
