Day 2 Ho Chi Minh City & Cu Chi

Commence with a Saigon walking tour, delving into the city's plethora of renowned historical landmarks. Strolling along the iconic Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat), we pass by notable sites such as the theater, Rex Hotel, Town Hall, and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Our exploration continues within the Presidential Palace and War Crimes Museum before a drive to the vibrant Cholon district, commonly known as Chinatown. Here, we explore the expansive Binh Tay wholesale market and the intricately adorned Thien Hau temple before indulging in lunch.

In the afternoon, we venture to the renowned Cu Chi tunnels, an extraordinary underground system spanning nearly 250km, which provided shelter to over 16,000 communist guerrillas during the war. This visit offers a glimpse into the resilience of these soldiers, and participants have the unique opportunity to enter the tunnels. We return to Saigon in the late afternoon, leaving the rest of the day free for individual exploration.

Day 3 Mekong Delta

This morning, embark on a southward journey into the heart of the Mekong Delta. Along the way, observe farmers diligently tending to their fields and drying their harvests on the roadside. Upon reaching My Tho, we board a boat to navigate one of the Mekong's principal tributaries. Our stops include islands such as Phoenix or Unicorn, where we engage with local farmers and cottage industries, including a coconut candy factory and a honey farm. A leisurely stroll through tropical fruit orchards provides the opportunity to savor the diverse local produce.

Concluding our island visits, we board sampans to navigate the narrow canals of the Delta before making our way back to Saigon via My Tho. Arriving in the mid-afternoon, the remainder of the day is at your leisure for any last-minute shopping or further exploration of Vietnam's largest city.

Day 4 Ho Chi Minh City to Hue

This morning, take a flight to Hue, the former capital of Vietnam situated along the picturesque central coast. Divided by the Perfume River, Hue holds significance as the focal point for Buddhism, art, and literature, serving as the last imperial capital of Vietnam. Our initial destination is the Citadel, the former residence of emperors, followed by a visit to the Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue's oldest and most exquisite religious monument. Return to the heart of Hue by a dragon boat cruise along the Perfume River.

Later in the day, venture to the outskirts of Hue to explore the impressive tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, the 4th monarch of the Nguyen dynasty. In the evening, indulge in the renowned cuisine of Hue.

Day 5 Hue to Hoi An

On the fifth day, we bid farewell to Hue and embark on a breathtaking road journey southward towards Hoi An. Traveling through picturesque rural and coastal landscapes, we ascend the remarkable Hai Van Pass. Upon reaching Danang, we pause to explore the distinctive Cham Museum, dedicated to the Hindu-inspired sculptures of the Cham people.

Continuing our journey south, we discover the multitude of caves and Buddhist shrines within the Marble Mountains and make a stop at the renowned China Beach. By late afternoon, we arrive in the captivating port town of Hoi An, where a concise walking tour awaits. Wandering through narrow lanes, adorned with centuries-old structures influenced by Chinese, Japanese, French, and European architecture, we explore the town's traditional market and riverfront area.

Day 6 Hoi An

Take advantage of today's leisure to immerse yourself in the charm of this town, brimming with a myriad of captivating attractions. Explore the local art and handicraft galleries, consider having custom clothing tailored to your liking, unwind at the riverside restaurants, or opt for a short excursion to the nearby beach. In the late afternoon, consider indulging in the optional experience of a tranquil sunset cruise on the Thu Bon River. Following this, join the group for an enjoyable cooking class hosted at a friend's restaurant.

Day 7 Hoi An to Hanoi

Commence the day with a flight to Hanoi, the esteemed capital of Vietnam. Our exploration initiates with a stroll through the Ho Chi Minh quarter, followed by a visit to the renowned "Hanoi Hilton" prison. As the evening unfolds, witness an exclusive showcase of water puppetry.

Day 8 Halong Bay

This morning, embark on an eastern journey to Halong Bay, hailed as Vietnam's most magnificent natural marvel. The day unfolds with a cruise amidst a selection of the 3,000 limestone islands emerging from the sea, allowing exploration of breathtaking caves and grottoes. Weather permitting, there's a chance to take a refreshing swim, followed by a delightful seafood lunch on board. In the afternoon, we head back to Hanoi, making a stop at a ceramic village along the way. The evening is yours to unwind or venture out for individual exploration.

Day 9 Hanoi

This morning, we revisit the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, commencing with a visit to the mausoleum situated in Ba Dinh Square. This historic site marks the spot where Ho Chi Minh declared independence from the French in 1945. Our journey continues to the unpretentious "house on stilts," the place from which Ho Chi Minh governed North Vietnam until his passing in 1969. Other notable landmarks on our itinerary include the French colonial presidential palace, the remarkable Ho Chi Minh Museum, and the One Pillar Pagoda, which traces its origins back to the 11th century. We also explore the Temple of Literature, Hanoi's inaugural university established in 1070. Despite slight damage during B52 bombing, the Temple has undergone restoration and stands today as a revered site for Confucian worship.

The remainder of the afternoon is at your disposal for any final shopping or personal exploration. In the evening, come together with the group for a farewell, savoring our last taste of Vietnamese cuisine.
