Starting from Luang Prabang, we embark on an off-road journey towards Vieng Thong and Vieng Xay, immersing ourselves in the stunning landscapes of mountains, forests, and caves, while interacting with local hill tribes. Continuing to Phonsavanh, we delve into the fascinating cultural heritage of the renowned “Plain of Jars”. Our exploration concludes in Vang Vieng before riding back to Luang Prabang, creating an unforgettable experience.
Embark on an exciting motorbike adventure from Luang Prabang, immersing yourself in nature, waterfalls, and elephants. In the morning, we will pick you up at your accommodation and introduce you to your motorbike. After a brief training session, we kickstart our journey with a visit to Vat Phra Phon Pao, a stunning hilltop temple offering panoramic views of Luang Prabang. Following breakfast, we continue our scenic motorbike tour, making our way to the Elephant XL camp. Here, you'll have the opportunity to observe and interact with protected Asian elephants in their natural habitat. Capture some memorable photos before we head to Tad Katscham, a picturesque and secluded waterfall located south of Luang Prabang. Don't forget to bring your swimsuits (non-bikini attire). After enjoying the refreshing waters, we ride back to Luang Prabang, covering approximately 40 kilometers on both paved and rugged roads. Depending on the season, we may even encounter another surprise waterfall along the way! Overnight in a hotel in Luang Prabang.
Kick off the day at 8 A.M.! Following breakfast, prepare to be amazed by the sight of approximately 1000 Buddha images lining the Mekong River. Marvel at the intricate art and religious expressions within Tham Thing and Tham Phoum caves. Our adventure continues as we hit the road, venturing eastward through mountains, villages, and breathtaking landscapes. After a few hours, we'll stop for a delightful lunch in a charming village along the way. Pushing forward, we'll conquer another 60 kilometers to our destination for the day. Expect some discomfort as we reach the tranquil and remote town of Vieng Thong. However, worry not, as the town's hot springs offer a soothing escape in their inviting warm waters. Rest for the night in a basic guesthouse in town.
An early start sets the tone for an extraordinary day. Journey through awe-inspiring landscapes, including pristine forest areas rarely explored by tourists. Our first stop is Phoulao, renowned for its stone garden and ancient menhirs—a glimpse into the earliest civilization of the region. In Sam Nuea, we'll take a well-deserved lunch break, allowing us to stretch our legs and explore the city. The surrounding countryside of Sam Nuea boasts majestic mountains and magnificent limestone formations, rewarding us for our adventurous journey thus far. Leaving Sam Nuea behind, we'll arrive in Vieng Xay, the birthplace of the Laotian republic. This sleepy town played a vital role during the Indochina War as the former headquarters of the Pathet Lao revolutionaries. Seeking refuge from relentless bombings by the US air force, the revolutionaries hid in the numerous caves scattered throughout the captivating landscape we'll explore. Discover the fascinating history of this area, which was home to hundreds of inhabited caves during the war. Rest for the night in Vieng Xay.
Embark on a brief tour of the caves, immersing ourselves in the history of Laos during the tumultuous sixties and seventies. Explore villages along the way, gaining insight into the local land and culture. After lunch, we'll uncover the poignant Tham Piew Cave, a somber reminder of the tragic events during the war, where more than 400 lives were lost in an American attack. This site serves as a powerful reminder to prevent such events from happening in the future. Spend the night in a small market town on our route. Overnight in Phonsavanh.
Today, we delve into the mystery of the Plain of Jars, an enchanting highland landscape adorned with ancient, enigmatic jars that have left historians puzzled about their origins and purpose. Marvel at the sight of these massive, age-old structures, larger than modern factory-made jars. However, their true purpose remains shrouded in secrecy. Amidst the jars, remnants of the past linger in the form of unexploded ordnance, a reminder of the American legacy from the last war. Stay on the designated paths to ensure safety! We then venture to the former capital of the province, which fell victim to devastating bombings in the early seventies. In the evening, take time to explore Phonsavanh town. Overnight in Phonsavanh.
Embark on a captivating westward journey through breathtaking forest formations, as we make our way to Vang Vieng, known as the party paradise for tourists in Laos! After lunch, it's time to experience the legendary tubing adventure down the Nam Xong, an essential activity for every visitor to Vang Vieng. Enjoy a day filled with the beauty of nature, stunning Lao landscapes, and exhilarating activities in the heart of nature. Overnight in Vang Vieng.
Start the morning with a leisurely ride on our motorcycles, taking in the picturesque landscapes just outside our hotel. Enjoy a refreshing walk before embarking on our motorbike journey back through the mountainous roads of Laos, marking our final adventure on the way back to Luang Prabang. This farewell ride will bring us back to Luang Prabang within 5-6 hours. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, we'll clean the motorcycles together and take a walk up to the magnificent Vat Phou Si, a temple perched on a colorful mountain. Indulge in the beauty of this stunning site during your last evening on our memorable Minsk motorcycle adventure through Laos. End of the Tour!
