Embark on an 8-day journey through the captivating landscapes of Laos, where you’ll explore the highlights of Vientiane, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang. Begin your adventure in Vientiane, the charming capital, where you’ll discover its historic temples and vibrant culture. Continue to Vang Vieng, renowned for its stunning karst scenery and outdoor activities, including tubing along the Nam Song River. Conclude your tour in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved temples, stunning natural beauty, and tranquil atmosphere. This tour offers a perfect blend of cultural immersion, natural wonders, and unforgettable experiences.
Upon arriving in Vientiane, a local guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, you have the option to unwind and explore the vicinity of your accommodation. Alternatively, your guide can take you for a stroll along the riverbank, where you can watch the sunset over the Mekong River.
Today, embark on a comprehensive full-day tour of Vientiane, the captivating capital of Laos. Your exploration will include a visit to the National Museum, which features a range of artistic displays. You’ll also explore Wat Sisaket, the city's oldest temple that boasts thousands of silver and porcelain Buddha images, and Haw Phra Kaeo, which is renowned for housing the revered Emerald Buddha amidst its lush courtyards filled with frangipani trees. Continue your journey with a stroll through the historic Morning Market, followed by visits to Pha That Luang, the grand gold-covered Buddhist stupa, and Patuxai, an impressive monument symbolizing Laos' independence.
You will be taken north to Vang Vieng, a quaint town nestled along the Nam Song River and encircled by dramatic limestone karsts. Once you arrive in Vang Vieng, your guide will lead you to explore Tham Phoukham and the stunning Blue Lagoon.
Following breakfast, you will travel to Luang Prabang with a private driver. A lunch break will be taken midway through the journey. In the afternoon, you'll continue driving through scenic landscapes. The entire trip takes about 5-6 hours. Upon reaching Luang Prabang, you will check in at your hotel.
After breakfast, you'll visit the Royal Palace Museum, the former residence of the king (closed on Tuesdays). The museum showcases a variety of items, such as exquisite furniture, traditional attire, artwork, jewelry, and daily tools. Following this, you'll explore Wat Xieng Thong, a stunning golden monastery dating back to the 16th century. Your temple tour will also include Wat Mai, Wat Visoun, and Wat Aham. Next, you'll head to Ban Phanom, renowned for its hand weaving. The day will conclude with a visit to Phousi Hill, where you can admire the breathtaking panoramic views of the town at sunset.
After breakfast, your guided tour begins at Wat Sene, the oldest temple in the city. Next, you'll be taken to the Mekong River to board a boat for a scenic cruise upstream, offering stunning views of the serene countryside. You'll visit the Pak Ou Caves, where two interconnected caves are filled with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes, left by devotees. Following this, you'll travel to Ban Xanghai Village, known for its rice wine production, and then to Ban Xieng Khong and Ban Xieng Lek, renowned for their traditional Saa jute paper.
After breakfast, you'll head to the bustling Morning Phousi Market to witness the unique daily ritual where saffron-clad monks collect alms from the local residents. This tradition is distinct to Laos, as it is the only Buddhist country where this practice is still observed. Laos is also renowned for its traditional crafts, so you'll visit several local villages of various Lao ethnic groups, including Ban Ouay (Hmong Village), Ban Ou (Laoloum Village), and Ban Thapene (Khmu Village). Afterward, you'll drive to the stunning Kuang Si Falls, where you can take a refreshing dip in the turquoise pools or explore the surrounding forest trails. In the evening, you'll return to the city to observe the daily activities of monks at Wat Siphouthabath.
