Upon arrival at Wattay Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Vientiane, the charming and captivating capital, exudes a fascinating blend of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Soviet, and American influences. Embark on a city tour to acquaint yourself with the capital's essence. After a brief rest, we'll visit the major landmarks, including the ancient Wat Sisaket, adorned with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, once housing the renowned Emerald Buddha Image. As we proceed to Lao's national treasure, the sacred and famous That Luang Stupa, you'll have the chance to capture the majestic Patuxay Monument, renowned as Vientiane's Arc de Triomphe, through your lens. Following breakfast, we embark on a northbound journey along route no. 13, offering awe-inspiring scenery as we traverse the breathtaking countryside towards the mountainous region. En route, we make a stop at Vang Xang, a renowned archaeological site dating back to the 11th century. Our final destination, the charming town of Vang Vieng, nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River, greets us in the afternoon. Despite tourism developments, its captivating landscape with limestone outcrops remains unspoiled. Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, we cross the Nam Song River to explore the Tham Jang caves and embark on a short trek through mesmerizing mountain terrain, venturing into the Tam None Cave and encountering hill villages. Today, we embark on an early start, traveling northward along route 13TH towards Luang Prabang, a city that stands as a shining example of Southeast Asia's well-preserved traditional charm. The well-paved roads ensure a smooth journey as we pass through breathtaking landscapes, adorned with steep terraced fields and picturesque hill villages. Along the way, we pause for photo stops at small hill tribe villages, each exuding its unique atmosphere—some prosperous, others teeming with vibrant life. Our next destination is Muang Xieng Nguen village, where we observe the local lifestyle before continuing our journey to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, we have ample time to explore significant landmarks, including the magnificent stupa of Wat Visoun, the revered shrine of Wat Aham, the ancient Wat Sene, and the grand Wat Mai with its five-tiered roofs. An essential part of the Luang Prabang experience is ascending 329 steps to the summit of Phousi Hill, where we witness a breathtaking sunset view of the city and its luminous reflection on the Mekong River. The zigzag path takes us past various temples to the sacred and gilded stupa of Wat Phou, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. After breakfast, we depart from Nong Khiow and head towards Oudomxay, renowned for its mountainous landscapes in Laos. The road conditions may vary, offering a mix of smooth stretches and rough patches, but the journey is fascinating. As we traverse the undulating terrain, we encounter charming hillside villages, each home to distinct ethnic minority groups. Among them are the Hmong, Khmu, Black Thai, and Lu; at Ban Songja and Ban Jarong, we get the chance to interact with the friendly Hmong hill tribe people, warmly welcoming us with smiles and waving hands. Oudomxay province is a melting pot of 23 ethnic groups, making it culturally rich and diverse. Upon reaching Oudomxay city, we continue our drive to Pakbeng. Along the way, we visit more Khmu, Tai Dam (Black Thai), and Hmong villages, immersing ourselves in their vibrant cultures. Today, we embark on an enchanting journey aboard a traditional boat, cruising upstream on the mystical Mekong River. The riverbanks boast beautiful mountain ranges and lush forests, offering breathtaking scenery throughout the journey. Along the peaceful river, we encounter the Hmong hill tribe people at Ban Houeilampen, known for their unique culture despite their challenging circumstances. Upon reaching HoueiSay, we cross the Mekong River by ferryboat to Chiang Khong in Thailand, where our unforgettable tour concludes.
