After a brief respite, our journey begins with a visit to the remarkable stupa of Wat Visoun and the sacred shrines of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Climbing Mount Phousi rewards us with a mesmerizing panorama of the city and the breathtaking sunset over the Mekong River. Early morning offers a captivating opportunity to witness the sacred tradition of saffron-robed monks collecting alms, often in the form of sticky rice, from devout locals. This unique ritual is a hallmark of Laos, a nation deeply rooted in Buddhism. Later, we venture to the vibrant Phosi Market, a lively hub of diverse offerings, including dried buffalo skin, local tea, and exquisite hill-tribe weavings. In the morning, our guided tour commences with a visit to Wat Sene, the city's oldest temple, and the grandeur of Wat Xiengthong, exemplifying classical Laotian architecture with its gracefully sweeping roofs. An upstream Mekong River cruise brings us to the mystical Pak Ou Caves, housing thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues left by devoted pilgrims. En route, we pause at the charming village of Ban Xanghai, renowned for its local rice wine production. After lunch, our journey continues to Khouangsi Waterfall, passing through ethnic Lao minority villages like Ban Ouay, Ban Ou, Laoloum, and Ban Thapene. In the afternoon, we delve into the history of Muang Khoun Province, visiting its old capital and nearby Hmong hill tribe and Tai Dam villages, each with vibrant cultural traditions. Later, we catch a short flight to Vientiane, where we check-in at the hotel. After a brief rest, we visit the Morning Market and the weaving village of Ban Nong Bouathong. Overnight in Vientiane.
