Your adventure kicks off today in the lively heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Upon landing, you'll be greeted at the airport and transferred to My Tho Port to embark on your elegant river cruiser, the RV Apsara. This evening, savor a special Welcome Dinner onboard as you meet your crew and fellow travelers.
Explore Cai Be and its surrounding areas via tender boats, offering a glimpse into local life along the river and its banks. On land, visit the French Gothic cathedral before heading to a rice paper workshop to discover the production process. Next, enjoy a boat ride to the picturesque town of Sa Dec for a guided tour. Continue your journey by small boat to the historic residence of Huynh Thuy Le, who was romantically linked with French author Marguerite Duras.
Disembark for a rickshaw ride through Tan Chau, a tranquil town largely untouched by tourism. As one of Vietnam's major silk-weaving hubs, you'll have the chance to witness the traditional silk weaving process in local workshops. Following this, take a small boat to explore rural life on Evergreen Island. Later, navigate through narrow waterways by local boats, passing floating fish farms and leaning stilt houses. Spend the remainder of the day on board.
In the afternoon, you might enjoy a fruit-carving demonstration or a Vietnamese spring roll workshop while border formalities are completed. As evening approaches, cross into Cambodia and set sail overnight toward the bustling capital, Phnom Penh.
Your exploration of Phnom Penh begins today. After breakfast, delve into the tragic history of Cambodia during Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge era in the 1970s. Visit the Killing Fields, where the Memorial Stupa stands as a glass monument honoring the thousands who perished. Also, tour the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.
Following lunch on board, step ashore to admire the magnificent Royal Palace, renowned for its stunning white and gold facade. Next, visit the Silver Pagoda, located on the southern side of the palace grounds.
Journey by coach to Oudong, Cambodia's former capital, for a distinctive Insider Experience. Next, head to Koh Chen to explore its open-air workshops specializing in copperware.
After returning to the ship, enjoy a free afternoon in the vibrant city of Phnom Penh. Alternatively, you can enrich your visit by selecting one of Travelmarvel's exclusive experiences. Options include a tuk tuk tour to discover the city's vibrant sights and sounds or a visit to the Kingdom Brewery for a deeper appreciation of local beers.
After breakfast, you'll arrive in the village of Oknha Tey. Step off the ship and hop into a local tuk tuk for a tour of the village. Explore daily life, from local homes and rice paddies to the warm smiles of the villagers. Continue your exploration on foot for a closer look at the village's charm.
