Day 7 Saigon City Tour – Cu Chi Tunnels

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel. We initiate our journey by visiting the Notre Dame Cathedral, the historic Central Post Office, followed by an exploration of the Reunification Palace and the notable site of the War Remnants Museum. In the afternoon, our focus shifts to the Cu Chi Tunnels, situated 60km from HCMC, now a renowned destination for both Vietnamese and international tourists.

This extensive network of over 200km of tunnels gained legendary status for its pivotal role in the war. During their prime, the tunnels functioned as underground cities, featuring numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens. Today, the rivers alongside the road peacefully host ducks and water buffalos. However, the tranquil rural rice paddy scenery conceals the area's tumultuous history, marked by destruction, damage, and defoliation caused by bombing and mines.

Visitors may find it challenging to imagine the intensity of the fierce battles that unfolded during the 1960s when Cu Chi served as a Free Target Zone. Commencing our tour in the morning, before delving into the tunnels, visitors can watch a brief introductory video showcasing the construction of the tunnels. The ensuing hour will be spent exploring these intricate underground passages. Conclude the experience with tea and cassava, which were staple foods for the guerrillas during the war. Return to Saigon.
