Arriving at Sapa Town - Cat Cat Village
The prior evening: Board the overnight train from Hanoi bound for Lao Cai.
If train tickets are unavailable, you'll be picked up from your hotel in time to catch the 10 PM sleeper cabin bus to Lao Cai.
Be prepared at your hotel lobby by 8:00 p.m; our tour guide and driver will meet you for a brief transfer to Hanoi Station. There, you'll board the overnight train to Lao Cai City.
• Spend the night on the train.
Upon your early arrival at Lao Cai Station, our team will pick you up for a journey of over an hour, heading uphill in a shared mini-van to reach Sapa. After freshening up and enjoying breakfast at a local restaurant, immerse yourself in a walk around this delightful town. Explore Sapa market and the old cathedral, where you'll encounter various local ethnic minority groups such as the Black H'mong and Red Zao. They showcase their traditional vibrant attire while selling farming produce, gathered items, and handicrafts for souvenirs.
Once you've checked into your hotel, indulge in lunch and take a midday break before embarking on a stroll to Cat Cat village, nestled at the base of Fansipan Peak. Revel in the awe-inspiring vistas of mountains and terraced rice paddies that transform with each turn of your downhill walk. Traverse Cat Cat village, home to the H'mong community, observing their daily routines and experiencing their warm hospitality. As you proceed towards the valley bottom, pause at a breathtaking waterfall where a French-built hydraulic power station stands. Uphill, complete a loop around the valley before returning to Sapa. The remainder of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Begin by strolling along the main road toward the south for approximately an hour. Subsequently, take a right turn onto a footpath that descends towards Muong Hoa Valley. This segment unveils the stunning landscapes of the highest sections of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. On a clear day, you might even catch a glimpse of Fansipan Peak. Once you've crossed the river via a suspension bridge, the path leads uphill to Y Linh Ho village. Here, observe the daily activities of H'mong families. Following a picnic lunch, the trail continues, meandering through hills and valleys for about 2 hours until reaching Lao Chai, a sizable H'mong village.
After another picnic lunch, the journey proceeds alongside the riverbank to Ta Van, home to the Zay people. Immerse yourself in cultural exploration by visiting local residences and village schools, soaking in the rich tapestry of ethnic cultures and the breathtaking vistas of the Muong Hoa Valley.
At 4 p.m., you will be transported by bus back to Hanoi.
Expect to arrive in Hanoi at 10 p.m.
