This morning, we will explore the Grand Palace and the revered Emerald Buddha (Phra Kaeo). Next, we will visit the impressive 46-meter-long reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, Bangkok's oldest and largest temple. Experience a glimpse of Bangkok's historic river life with a boat excursion along the Thonburi canals. In the afternoon, we will delve into bustling Chinatown and the renowned Sampeng Lane. In the evening, immerse yourself in Bangkok's vibrant night markets and dining scene.
Journey northward to discover the ancient ruins of Ayuthaya, once the heart of a mighty and expansive empire. Our journey includes a visit to Bang Pa In, the Royal family's summer palace. Later, embark on the charming Mekhala barge for an overnight cruise back to Bangkok. Enjoy a delightful dinner under the stars with delicious Thai cuisine on board before settling into your comfortable air-conditioned cabin.
Wake up early at your riverside docking to witness monks at Wat Kai Tia performing their morning prayers. By late morning, we will glide into Bangkok and visit Jim Thompson’s House. This renowned residence is a testament to exquisite Thai arts, architecture, and elegant interior decor. Spend your free time this evening bidding farewell to the vibrant 'City of Angels'.
Chiang Mai, the current cultural hub of northern Thailand, boasts over 100 monasteries, excellent shopping opportunities, and superb dining options. Upon arrival by flight, we will acquaint ourselves with the city through a samlor (cyclo) tour visiting some of its most exquisite temples. We will explore a captivating village renowned for its production of wax paper parasols and visit an intriguing hill tribe museum. In the evening, immerse yourself in the bustling Chang Khlan Road night bazaar, known for offering some of the finest shopping experiences in Asia.
Doi Suthep monastery stands out as one of Thailand's most peaceful and picturesque locations. Tucked into the hills west of Chiang Mai, this serene monastery is a must-visit in northern Thailand and holds significant cultural importance. We will explore this sacred site in the morning, when visitor numbers are lower, and enjoy panoramic views of Chiang Mai to the east. In the evening, bid farewell to Chiang Mai with a memorable session of shopping and indulging in fine dining.
Today, we embark on a journey to an elephant sanctuary where we will trek through the forest and visit a local tribal village. Experience a delightful bullock cart ride and peacefully float downstream on a sturdy bamboo raft. Later, we will drive through the mountainous landscapes of the Golden Triangle to reach our luxurious resort accommodation.
The convergence of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar (Burma) forms the renowned Golden Triangle region. We acquaint ourselves with this northernmost area of Thailand by visiting the intriguing Hall of Opium, exploring Sop Ruak town, and making a stop at Mai Sai, a bustling frontier town.
We head eastward to the Thai border and cross the tranquil Mekong River into Laos. Here, we embark on our luxurious boat for a leisurely cruise down the Mekong, with a stop at a Thai Lu village along the way. Enjoy the scenic river views until we arrive in Pakbeng by late afternoon, where we will settle into our splendid lodge.
Following a relaxed breakfast, we return to our boat for a full-day voyage to Luang Prabang. Along the way, we traverse jungle-covered cliffs and visit the 'Cave of a Thousand Buddhas'. Relax on the deck, indulge in delicious food and beverages, and arrive gracefully in Luang Prabang by evening.
Luang Prabang is renowned as Laos' most captivating and picturesque town. Today, immerse yourself in its charm with a guided stroll along cobblestone streets, visiting the vibrant Dala Market and some of the town's most exquisite temples. We will also explore a village known for textile weaving and paper making. Before sunset, ascend Mount Phou Si for breathtaking panoramic views of the town and the river.
Get up early today to witness one of Asia’s remarkable scenes: hundreds of Buddhist monks dressed in robes collecting morning alms. Afterward, we head towards the stunning Kuang Si Falls, making a stop at a Hmong village to learn about one of Laos’s prominent ethnic groups. In the evening, participate in an enjoyable cooking class where you will prepare and savor your own culinary creations.
Later today, we will take a flight to Vientiane, the tranquil capital of Laos. Spend some leisure time acquainting yourself with this quaint capital and embark on a brief walking tour along Sethathilat Road, visiting its serene monasteries. Use this opportunity to familiarize yourself with the city for tomorrow's exploration. Check into your colonial-era hotel, renowned as the finest accommodation in town.
Today, we will visit the key attractions of the city, starting with Wat Sisaket, Vientiane’s ancient and stunning temple. We will also tour Haw Pha Kaew, a former royal temple converted into a museum. Our itinerary includes a visit to Pha That Luang, Laos' significant national monument symbolizing both the monarchy and Buddhism, and the Patuxai Monument, reminiscent of Paris' Arc de Triomphe. In the evening, unwind and enjoy the sunset along the Mekong River banks.
