In the afternoon, we will continue to the Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, which houses an enormous reclining Buddha, followed by a visit to the Karaweik Hall on the Royal Lake and Kandawgyi Park, offering a relaxing atmosphere for photo opportunities. Our final stop for the day is the world-renowned Shwedagon Pagoda, a golden dome that glimmers beautifully in the sunlight before sunset. Overnight in Yangon.
In the early morning, board a domestic flight to Bagan, a top-rated archaeological destination in Asia. Upon arrival, we will visit the bustling Nyaung U market before exploring some of the most prominent pagodas and temples in the city. Our itinerary will include the Shwezigon Pagoda, the grandest of the 2,200 pagodas in Bagan, which was initially constructed by King Anawyahta in the 11th century. Next, we will explore the Htilominlo Temple and the Gubaukgyi (Wet Kyi Inn) Temple, a 13th-century cave temple well-known for its fascinating frescoes of sconces from the Jataka. In the afternoon, we will continue our excursion by visiting a lacquerware workshop where we can witness the traditional methods of lacquerware production passed down through generations. We will also explore more pagodas throughout Bagan, including the Ananda Temple, the most exquisite pagoda in Bagan, known for its wooden standing Buddha images from the 12th century. The highest Thetbyinnyu Temple and the most extensive Dhamayangyi Temple, which is famous for its interlocking mortar and thick brickwork, will also be part of our itinerary. In the late afternoon, we will unwind and admire the stunning scenery of Bagan while watching the sunset. Overnight in Bagan.
After breakfast, we offer two options for further exploration of Bagan: a horse cart ride or an E-bike ride. Overnight in Bagan. As an optional activity, you can experience a hot-air balloon ride to witness the beginning of the day and enjoy a bird's eye view of the ancient city of Bagan. You will marvel at thousand-year-old pagodas, temples, and the grand Ayeyarwaddy River as the balloon gently drifts with the wind, while the sun slowly rises in the sky.
