After enjoying breakfast, our experienced tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Phong Nha to embark on a journey to explore the historic DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). As we travel along Highway 1A, our knowledgeable guide will share insightful information about the Vietnam-US war. Our first stop is the significant Hien Luong Bridge and Ben Hai River, which served as the former border between North and South Vietnam from 1954 to 1972. Continuing our journey, we visit the remarkable Vinh Moc Tunnels, an intricate network built by villagers seeking refuge from bombings during the American War. This extraordinary place served as a home and stronghold for an entire community for two and a half years. Before enjoying lunch (at your own expense) in Dong Ha town, we'll visit the Mine Action Visitor Center, where you can gain a comprehensive understanding, through photographs and displays in English and Vietnamese, of the 1972 destruction of Quang Tri Citadel and the heroic efforts of people using bamboo sticks to deactivate mines. The center also sheds light on the tragic legacy of Agent Orange, a defoliant used during the war. Departing from Dong Ha Town, we proceed to Khe Sanh town. Along the way, we make a stop at Dakrong Bridge, which was reconstructed in 2001 and bears a marker commemorating its role as a vital artery for the Ho Chi Minh Trail (NR 14). Next, we visit Ta Con Airport to witness the scars of war in nature and the resilient spirit of the Quang Tri people. Finally, we arrive at Khe Sanh combat base, renowned for being one of the most significant sieges of the Vietnam War. This site was a United States base that came under attack in early 1968.
