Itinerary

Day 1Join the Excursion in Ho Chi Minh City

Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon, where our Vietnamese adventure begins. As Vietnam's largest and most vibrant city, Saigon is a captivating blend of tradition and modernity, where ancient pagodas and bustling markets coexist with the dynamic energy of the country's emerging entrepreneurial spirit. Upon arrival, make your way to the hotel, and if time permits, take a leisurely stroll to the nearby reunification palace, a mere 15-minute walk away. In the evening, our group leader will gather everyone in the hotel reception at 6pm for a warm welcome and an introductory meeting. Feel free to join the group for a delightful dinner experience if you wish. There are no scheduled activities for the rest of the day, allowing you the flexibility to arrive at your convenience. If you would like a complimentary airport transfer, please plan to arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), located approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour away. In case you miss the welcome meeting, our group leader will ensure that you receive all essential information as soon as you catch up. Indulge in the variety of dining options available within a short walking distance from our centrally located hotel.

Day 2 Morning visit to Cu Chi Tunnels. Explore Old Saigon, and discover 'Secret Weapons Bunker'

Embark on a journey to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Delve into the historical depths of Old Saigon and unveil the enigmatic 'Secret Weapons Bunker'. Following a satisfying breakfast, set off to visit the infamous Cu Chi tunnels. Originally crafted by the Vietnamese during their struggle against the French in colonial times, these tunnels expanded significantly and gained infamy during the Vietnam War, serving as an underground command center for 10,000 Viet Cong troops. Exploring Cu Chi offers a glimpse into the challenging conditions endured by both the Vietnamese and their American adversaries. However, be prepared for the narrow and somewhat claustrophobic tunnels. Kindly note that transportation to and from Cu Chi will be shared with other tourists. In the afternoon, a different side of Ho Chi Minh City awaits as we venture away from the prominent attractions to wander through the hidden back alleys of Old Saigon. Riding in cyclos, traditional cycle carriages with front seats, we veer off the main thoroughfare and immerse ourselves in the labyrinthine streets of District 3. Along the way, we pass by humble shopfronts, bustling local markets offering a vibrant array of fruits and bootleg DVDs, as well as residences, churches, and schools tightly packed within narrow buildings lining the alleys. This captivating interconnected community, just a stone's throw from the city center, stands in stark contrast to the modern structures and tourist crowds. We pause at a local stall to savor a traditional Vietnamese coffee, sweetened with condensed milk, and also indulge in 'Banh Mi' - a Vietnamese adaptation of the iconic French baguette, freshly baked and filled with a blend of traditional and aromatic ingredients. The walking excursion culminates at the discreet 'secret weapons' bunker. Nestled within a tranquil neighborhood, a modest 'tube house' conceals a trap door in its floor, leading to a basement brimming with rifles, grenades, and ammunition. This bunker played a pivotal role in the TET Offensive of 1968, serving as the launch base for the Viet Cong's "Team 5", and its location remained undisclosed until after the war's conclusion. We have ample time to explore the house and bunker, adorned with decommissioned weapons, photographs, news clippings, and mementos from the wartime era.

Day 3 Journey to the Mekong Delta and Enchanting Cycle Ride

Embark on a scenic drive southward from the city, venturing into the enchanting realm of the Mekong Delta. Arriving at our destination, we board a boat that will transport us to the starting point of our captivating cycle ride. Pedaling along the flat and picturesque Cai Thai village path, spanning approximately 10-12 km, we are treated to uninterrupted vistas of the sprawling delta, as we meander alongside its numerous tributaries. The route offers ample shade, providing respite from the humidity (the boat is available to collect cyclists at various stops if needed). During our journey, we have the opportunity to visit Mrs. Nani's home, where she will graciously demonstrate the traditional method of rice paper making. Additionally, we stop by the abode of Mr. and Mrs. Chin, who warmly serve us refreshing treats, including the renowned 'Banh Tieu' (a traditional doughnut). Returning to the boat, we indulge in a delectable lunch served on board as we cruise along the delta, immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the small floating markets. This unique trading hub comprises a vast network of rivers and islands, interweaving agricultural villages, verdant paddy fields, and enchanting mangrove swamps. After this enriching experience, we continue our journey to Can Tho, our next destination.

Day 4 Morning Exploration of Cai Rang Floating Market and Ba Lang Canal, followed by Drive to Chau Doc

Prepare for a vibrant and captivating morning as we embark on a boat cruise to the renowned Cai Rang floating market, the largest in the Mekong Delta. Immerse yourself in a kaleidoscope of colors as we paddle through the bustling market, where friendly local traders eagerly catch your attention. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to board a traditional boat, engage with the traders, and perhaps purchase a succulent pineapple from one of the floating vendors. Continuing our journey, we make a stop at the captivating Binh Thuy ancient house. This remarkable architectural gem combines elements of classical design with influences from French, Chinese, and local Vietnamese artisans. Dating back to the late 19th century, the house is adorned with a fascinating collection of antiques and memorabilia, transporting you to a bygone era. After our visit, we drive to Chau Doc, a bustling border town situated between Vietnam and Cambodia. Here, we embark on another boat cruise, venturing to the Chau Giang fish farm, where fish are cultivated in cages beneath floating houses. Take the opportunity to explore the Cham village before returning to our hotel for a restful night.

Day 5 Morning Speedboat to Phnom Penh

Embark on an exciting journey as we drive to the jetty in Chau Doc this morning and board an early speedboat bound for Phnom Penh. This thrilling four-and-a-half-hour river expedition carries us along the Hau Giang River, leading us into neighboring Cambodia. Nestled on the banks of the mighty Mekong River, Phnom Penh has served as the capital since the 1440s. Today, it stands as a vibrant city adorned with charming French colonial architecture, bustling markets, captivating art galleries, ornate temples, and enlightening museums. In the evening, we gather for a delightful dinner at a local restaurant in Phnom Penh (included).

Day 6 Market Bartering, Cooking Lesson, and School Visit in Phnom Penh

Our first morning in Cambodia offers an immersive cultural experience. We embark on a visit to the vibrant local market, where we engage in bartering and select fresh ingredients to be used in a traditional Khmer meal. Later, we gather at the esteemed La Rose restaurant, renowned for its exquisite Khmer cuisine, where we, as a group, will prepare and savor the flavors of Cambodia. In the afternoon, we have the privilege of meeting local children at a nearby school, creating a meaningful opportunity to learn some Khmer language while imparting English language skills to the young learners. We may also organize engaging activities, such as friendly football matches or traditional Cambodian board games, fostering connections between the children from different backgrounds. Our accommodation for the night is in Phnom Penh, Cambodia's historic capital, nestled at the intersection of the Sap, Mekong, and Bassac Rivers. This city, with its amalgamation of ancient and colonial influences, serves as a testament to Cambodia's rich past. From the majestic Royal Palace and the National Museum showcasing the country's cultural heritage to the haunting Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, which bear witness to the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge regime, Phnom Penh encapsulates a diverse tapestry of history and resilience.

Day 7 Journey to Siem Reap and Afternoon Orientation Tour

We embark on a comfortable private bus as we make our way north to the mystical jungle temples of Siem Reap. Serving as the contemporary gateway to the ancient wonders of Angkor, Siem Reap offers more than just temple exploration. What was once a modest village when Angkor was rediscovered by the French in the 19th century has now evolved into a bustling town catering to diverse types of tourists and budgets. Taking an evening stroll along its organized streets reveals a vibrant food scene, with an array of restaurants and street stalls to satisfy every palate. Additionally, numerous spas await, offering traditional Khmer massages for a rejuvenating experience. The night market presents a fantastic opportunity to engage in lively bargaining for unique finds. And, of course, there's the famous 'Pub Street'—a lively pedestrianized area adorned with neon lights, street performers, bustling bars, and diverse dining establishments. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, most visitors find it worthwhile to immerse themselves in the energetic ambiance of Siem Reap.

Day 8 Full-Day Excursion to Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat

Embarking on a journey reminiscent of Lara Croft's adventures, we delve into the mystical realm of the Angkor Wat temples in Siem Reap. Spanning a remarkable period of 600 years, from the 9th to the 15th centuries, these temples are a testament to ancient architectural mastery. Traveling in local tuk-tuks, we explore two iconic temple sites: Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat. The fortified city of Angkor Thom, originally constructed at the end of the 12th century, impresses with its imposing walls, grand gates, and a moat teeming with crocodiles. Our next stop takes us to the awe-inspiring beauty of Angkor Wat, the crown jewel among Siem Reap's jungle temples. Please be aware that starting from January 1st, 2020, the third tier of the Bayon Temple, the magnificent centerpiece of the ancient city of Angkor Thom, will be closed for extensive restoration until 2022. While the up-close view of the large stone faces will not be possible, the lower two tiers will remain accessible, allowing us to admire the intricate bas-reliefs and exquisite stone carvings that adorn this extraordinary temple.

Day 9 Leisure Day in Siem Reap with Ta Phrom Visit

Today is a leisure day, allowing you to immerse yourself in the wonders of Siem Reap at your own pace. Discover the city's charm by bicycle or rickshaw, granting you the freedom to explore the captivating sites at your leisure. Day 10 Flight to Bangkok and Explore the Thai Capital

After bidding farewell to Siem Reap and Cambodia, we embark on a short morning flight to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport. As we arrive in this captivating city, the afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure. Bangkok offers a range of optional excursions, allowing you to tailor your experience. In the evening, venture to the bustling Chinatown, where you can indulge in the city's vibrant street markets, temples, and delectable street-side restaurants. For culinary enthusiasts, an extended tuk-tuk culinary tour is also available. Refer to the budgeting and packing section for further details.

Day 11 Explore Bangkok, Transfer to Hua Hin

Take the morning to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Bangkok. Your local leader will provide information on various activities available. A popular choice is a visit to the renowned Sor Vorapin Gym, where you can witness the skill of Muay Thai experts. After lunch, we embark on a scenic journey southwest along the coast to our beach resort in the Hua Hin area. The approximately three-hour drive is well worth it, as it leads us to pristine beaches, national parks, and a tranquil ambiance for relaxation.

Day 12 Leisure Day on the Coast

Enjoy a free day on the coast, nestled between Hua Hin and Cha-am. Dive into the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Thailand for snorkeling adventures or simply unwind on the sandy beaches. Trúc Bạch Lake - 🌸 Trúc Bạch Lake – Hanoi’s Hidden Gem Beside West Lake (2025 Travel Guide) 📍 Location: Ba Đình District, Hanoi, Vietnam🕒 Opening Hours: Open 24 hours daily💸 Entrance Fee: Free (pedal-boat rental available for a small fee)🚲 Nearby Attractions: West Lake (Hồ Tây), Trấn Quốc Pagoda, Quan Thanh Temple 🌿 Introduction: Where Peace Meets History Tucked away beside the grand expanse of West Lake, Trúc Bạch Lake (Hồ Trúc Bạch) offers a quiet, romantic corner of Hanoi where time seems to flow more slowly. Once a royal retreat for Vietnam’s aristocracy, this small but storied lake has evolved into a favorite spot for locals, expats, and travelers seeking calm moments away from the city’s chaos. In 2025, Trúc Bạch remains one of Hanoi’s best-kept secrets — a blend of ancient history, lakeside charm, and everyday local life. Whether you come for a peaceful stroll, a sunset coffee, or a leisurely pedal-boat ride, the atmosphere here feels effortlessly authentic. 🌅✨ 🏰 A Glimpse into the Past: The Story Behind the Name The name “Trúc Bạch” dates back to the 18th century, when the ruling Trịnh Lords built a summer palace on the lake’s shore. It wasn’t all royal luxury, though — legend tells that the palace later became a place of confinement for disfavored concubines and “wayward women” of the court. These women were ordered to weave fine white silk as a form of penance — and thus, the silk became known as “Trúc Bạch silk”, prized for its delicate texture and purity. Today, the lake carries that legacy of beauty and craftsmanship in its very name. 🕊️ 🌸 The Modern Lake: A Local Favorite Fast-forward to 2025, and Trúc Bạch Lake has transformed into a beloved local hangout. The lake’s perimeter, framed by tree-lined streets and charming cafés, exudes a peaceful, almost European ambiance — yet it remains deeply rooted in Hanoi’s spirit. The Thanh Niên Causeway, which separates Trúc Bạch from West Lake, is one of the most scenic roads in Hanoi. 🌳 During summer, flame trees bloom with fiery red blossoms, turning the avenue into a vibrant tunnel of color. Families picnic on the grassy banks, couples stroll hand-in-hand, and street vendors sell refreshing drinks and ice cream. 🍦 In the evenings, the lake glows softly with reflections of lanterns, café lights, and the occasional swan-shaped pedal boat gliding lazily across the water. 🚣‍♀️ It’s peaceful, poetic, and unmistakably Hanoian. ☕ Lakeside Cafés and Dining The Trúc Bạch neighborhood has become one of Hanoi’s most charming dining districts. Here, you’ll find a mix of modern coffee shops, cozy bakeries, and local eateries serving everything from fusion dishes to traditional Vietnamese favorites. A few must-visit spots in 2025 include: Café Trúc Bạch: Perfect for a morning espresso while watching the sunrise shimmer across the lake. ☀️ Maison de Tet Décor: A hidden gem known for organic brunches, vegan options, and rustic interiors. Pho Cuon Huong Mai: Famous for phở cuốn — fresh rice noodle rolls that originated right here in Trúc Bạch! It’s light, delicious, and a local must-try. 🍜 If you’re into food with a story, don’t miss the street stalls that serve fried fermented shrimp paste (bún chả mắm tôm) — the scent might be strong, but the taste is pure northern Vietnamese magic. 🚣‍♀️ Fun on the Water For a bit of lighthearted fun, rent one of the swan-shaped pedal boats that dot the lake. It’s a classic Hanoi pastime that families and couples have enjoyed for decades. 🦢 Pedaling across the lake offers a lovely new perspective — you’ll see the city skyline, the ancient pagoda spires, and the tranquil rhythm of daily life from the water. Rentals are inexpensive (around 50,000–80,000 VND per boat as of 2025) and available all day, especially on weekends. If you prefer to stay on land, simply walk or cycle around the lake. The 1.5-kilometer loop is an easy, breezy route perfect for sunset photography and people-watching. 📷 🛕 Nearby Cultural Highlights Trúc Bạch Lake sits at the heart of one of Hanoi’s most culturally rich districts. Within walking distance, you can explore: Trấn Quốc Pagoda: 🕊️ Located on a small island in West Lake, this 6th-century pagoda is the oldest in Hanoi and a must-see at dusk. Quan Thanh Temple: ⚔️ A beautiful Taoist temple dedicated to Tran Vu, the God of the North, featuring a colossal bronze statue. Chau Long Market: 🍉 An authentic local market where you can browse Vietnamese herbs, tropical fruits, and street snacks. Combining a lake stroll with visits to these nearby attractions makes for a perfect half-day cultural itinerary. 🌇 When to Visit Trúc Bạch Lake ✨ Best Time:Visit early in the morning (6–8 AM) to catch locals exercising and fishermen casting their lines — or come at sunset (5–6 PM) for golden light and a romantic view. 🌤️ Seasonal Tips: Spring (Feb–Apr): Flowers bloom along Thanh Niên Causeway, making it one of Hanoi’s most photogenic spots. Summer (May–Aug): The flame trees turn fiery red, and evenings are lively with street vendors and families. Autumn (Sept–Nov): The weather is cool and crisp, perfect for coffee by the water. Winter (Dec–Jan): Misty mornings give the lake a mysterious, poetic look ideal for photographers. 🏨 Where to Stay Near Trúc Bạch Lake Trúc Bạch’s central yet peaceful location makes it an ideal base for exploring Hanoi. Electric buses and Grab rides are also available.🚲 Getting around: Rent a bike or walk to fully enjoy the relaxed lakeside atmosphere.🍜 What to eat: Don’t miss phở cuốn, bún chả, and Vietnamese...Discovering West Lake - 🌅 Discovering West Lake (Hồ Tây) – Hanoi’s Timeless Escape in 2025 📍 Location: Northwest of Hanoi city center🕓 Best time to visit: Early morning or sunset🚴‍♀️ Activities: Cycling, lakeside cafés, pagoda visits, sunset cruises, and fine dining 🌿 Introduction: Where Tradition Meets Modern Lifestyle Once the tranquil retreat of Vietnam’s emperors, West Lake (Hồ Tây) has now reclaimed its position as Hanoi’s most sophisticated and scenic neighborhood. In 2025, this vast body of water spanning over 500 hectares continues to blend serenity with style — a place where ancient temples, luxury residences, and trendy cafés coexist in perfect harmony. You’ll find modern serviced apartments, high-end fitness clubs, yoga studios with lake views, and rooftop bars that offer breathtaking sunsets. ✨ 🏙️ A Walk Through Modern West Lake If you stroll along Xuan Dieu Street, the area’s bustling main artery, you’ll sense the vibrant energy of modern Hanoi. Stylish restaurants, craft coffee shops, and wine bars line the streets, while boutique stores showcase everything from handmade jewelry to Vietnamese-inspired fashion. In 2025, new luxury developments continue to rise around the lake — yet the charm of tree-lined promenades and lotus ponds remains intact. Whether you’re exploring by foot, electric scooter, or bicycle, the gentle breeze and calm waters provide a welcome escape from the city’s chaos. 🚲💨 ☕ Café Culture by the Water Hanoi’s café scene has truly found its soul around West Lake. From artisan coffee roasters tucked in quiet corners to lakeside cafés with floating decks, every stop offers a unique slice of local life. Some of the most popular spots include: Maison de L'amour Café: Perfect for brunch with a view of the lotus gardens. Tranquil West Lake: A cozy spot to read and watch the sun melt into the horizon. And yes, you’ll even stumble upon a few taco bars and fusion eateries, a delightful reflection of the area’s growing international community. 🌮🌍 🛕 Cultural Treasures Around the Lake West Lake isn’t just about lifestyle — it’s also deeply steeped in history and spirituality. The area boasts some of Hanoi’s oldest and most revered temples and pagodas, each telling a story from Vietnam’s imperial past. Highlights include: Trấn Quốc Pagoda (Chùa Trấn Quốc): 🕊️ Dating back to the 6th century, this is Hanoi’s oldest pagoda, gracefully set on a small island connected by a red wooden bridge. It’s especially magical at sunset. Phủ Tây Hồ: 🙏 A spiritual haven dedicated to Princess Liễu Hạnh, one of Vietnam’s Four Immortals. Locals come here to pray for health and prosperity. Quan Thanh Temple: ⚔️ Located near the southern tip of the lake, this Taoist temple is famous for its bronze statue of Tran Vu, the God of the North. Each of these sites offers not only historical depth but also stunning photo opportunities — perfect for travelers seeking both culture and beauty. 📸 🌸 Trúc Bạch Lake – The Smaller, Cozier Sister Separated from West Lake by a 17th-century causeway, Trúc Bạch Lake has a charm all its own. Once a quiet fishing area, it’s now surrounded by quaint cafés and boutique hotels, offering a more intimate and romantic setting. Here, you can enjoy a quiet afternoon sipping egg coffee ☕ while watching fishermen cast their nets, or take a gentle evening walk along the Thanh Niên Causeway, one of the most scenic streets in Hanoi. 🏨 Where to Stay: From Lakeside Luxury to Cozy Hideaways West Lake offers an impressive range of accommodations in 2025 — from elegant lakeside resorts to chic boutique hotels.
